Veronica Mars (2004-2007)

A little different from the usual high school drama. Complex mysteries permeated throughout, both week to week as well as season to season!

Favourite actors from Veronica Mars: Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni & Tina Majorino

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006-2007)

Clever and funny show, tried to do for TV production what The West Wing did for politics but was cancelled far too quickly.

Favourite actors from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: Bradley Whitford, Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet & Timothy Busfield

The Class (2006-2007)

Not the best sitcom out there, but sweet and funny nonetheless! Some brilliant characters in this that weren't given a chance to shine.

Favourite actors from The Class: Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Heather Goldenhersh & Jon Bernthal

Dark Angel (2000-2002)

Watched this long after it was cancelled, another vision of a dystopian future! Really hit its stride in the second season.

Favourite actors from Dark Angel: Jessica Alba, Jensen Ackles, Michael Weatherly & John Savage

The West Wing (1999-2006)

Another show I caught up on after its cancellation. Totally subverted my expectations by not being at all stuffy and actually made me care about the characters!

Favourite actors from The West Wing: Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford, Allison Janney & Janel Moloney

Related (2005-2006)

Watched this because I love Lizzy Caplan, but not until after it had been cancelled. I love the dynamic between the sisters, I really feel like they are actually related and not just acting.

Favourite actors from Related: Lizzy Caplan, Jennifer Esposito, Callum Blue & Laura Breckenridge

Stargate SG-1 (1997-2007)

Ten amazing years! When I first started watching SG-1, I just watched whatever random episodes I came across but that was enough to get me hooked! It followed on brilliantly from the premise of the film and introduced so many more layers and culminated wonderfully in an excellent spin off that also has me hooked!

Favourite actors from Stargate SG-1: Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Richard Dean Anderson & Christopher Judge

Dead Like Me (2003-2004)

A brilliantly off beat show with a great cast and so much untapped potential! Luckily, there is hope in a straight-to-DVD film that will be out in 2008!

Favourite actors from Dead Like Me: Ellen Muth, Callum Blue, Mandy Patinkin & Laura Harris

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)

Started watching this because of the promise of vampires, but that wasn't what kept me watching week on week for seven years! Great writing and great cast, and episodes that are alternately scary, funny and heart breaking!

Favourite actors from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendan, Alyson Hannigan & James Marsters

Hex (2004-2005)

The first season was excellent, but though the second season introduced a number of interesting characters they also lost the two main ones and wrote themselves into a corner that they couldn't get out of.

Favourite actors from Hex: Jemima Rooper, Christina Cole, Michael Fassbender & Jamie Davis

Sugar Rush (2005-2006)

Set in Brighton, the initial reason for watching! Partly based on a book, which I didn't read till I'd seen much of the show. Quite off beat and funny, but also it can be deep.

Favourite actors from Sugar Rush: Olivia Hallinan, Lenora Crichlow, Sarah-Jane Potts & Richard Lumsden

Tru Calling (2003-2005)

This show had so much potential, a great cast and a clever premise! There was so much left answered, one of the most tragic cancellations ever.

Favourite actors from Tru Calling: Eliza Dushku, Jason Priestley, Shawn Reaves & Zach Galifianakis

Angel (1999-2004)

Excellent spin off of Buffy. The characters go through a lot in the 5 years it was on, just like Buffy it is sometimes funny, scary, upsetting and often all at once! Should have had at least one more season.

Favourite actors from Angel: David Boreanaz, Glenn Quinn, Charisma Carpenter & Amy Acker

Firefly (2002-2004)

Beautifully made, likeable characters and a lot of realism for a series set in space. Also cruelly cancelled, but led to a great film.

Favourite actors from Firefly: Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite & Summer Glau

& Morena Baccarin & Gina Torres & Adam Baldwin & Sean Maher & Ron Glass!

Blade: The Series (2006)

Loved the film series, and this TV adaptation had great potential. Unlike the films, the TV series gave the opportunity to get to know the vampires and learn more about their ways. Krista's storyline is however a lot more interesting than Blade's.

Favourite actors from Blade: The Series: Jill Wagner, Neil Jackson, Jessica Gower & Nelson Lee

Sorry Kirk!

The Dresden Files (2007)

I watched this before I read the books, but I'm now incredibly upset at the cancellation of the show and totally addicted to the books! Sure, they are different, but there is a lot in the books that would never work on a TV budget and I think the creators made some great choices in that regard. As for the studio...

Favourite actors from The Dresden Files: Paul Blackthorne, Terrence Mann, Valerie Cruz & Conrad Coates

Life On Mars (2006-2007)

I watched this on DVD after it was all over, and I love it a lot! John Simm is excellent as Sam Tyler, the Manchester Police Officer who finds himself in 1973 after a car accident. It is often very funny but also deeply affecting.

Favourite actors from Life on Mars: John Simm, Philip Glenister, Liz White & Dean Andrews

John From Cincinnati (2007)

Never quite worked out what this was about, and it got itself cancelled after 10 episodes. Incredibly quirky and off beat characters that make the supposed alien John almost normal!

Favourite actors from John from Cincinnati: Austin Nichols, Brian Van Holt, Rebecca De Mornay & Luke Perry

Sports Night (1998-2000)

Watched this because I'd also enjoyed Aaron Sorkin's West Wing and Studio 60! A few of the actors in West Wing and Studio 60 appeared on Sports Night first. Very funny sitcom based on the set of a nightly sport show but even people who don't like sport, such as me, can enjoy this thoroughly.

Favourite actors from Sports Night: Josh Charles, Peter Krause, Felicity Huffman & Joshua Malina

Blood Ties (2006-2007)

It had promise to start with, and of course I was automatically attracted due to the fact it has vampires in! Some weeks Henry (the vampire) seems unnecessary and the writers constantly teased the viewer with the relationship between him and Vicki. Vicki made for a strong female lead but in comparison to Moonlight it didn't have a chance.

Favourite actors in Blood Ties: Christina Cox, Kyle Schmid, Gina Holden & Dylan Neal

The 4400 (2004-2007)

A great cast of characters in this show, and every season there were major changes that caused equally major changes of direction. Had a lot of cliffhangers and kept me watching to find out what was going to happen next but also fizzled out towards its eventual end.

Favourite actors in The 4400: Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie, Patrick Flueger & Megalyn Echikunwoke

Journeyman (2007)

Very complex story and characters, was cruelly cancelled.

Favourite actors in Journeyman: Kevin McKidd, Moon Bloodgood, Gretchen Egolf & Brian Howe

Jekyll (2007)

Brilliant reimagining of the classic Jekyll and Hyde story. James Nesbitt plays both characters incredibly well and it keeps you guessing till the very end!

Favourite actors in Jekyll: James Nesbitt, Michelle Ryan, Gina Bellman & James Nesbitt(!)

Jericho (2006-2008)

I seem to have a thing for post-apocalyptic, dystopian future type storylines! The setting is very small, everything is from the point of view of the inhabitants of a small Kansas town and you know no more than they do about the attacks that have occurred on American soil. It was cancelled before it had a chance to get properly established.

Favourite actors from Jericho: Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Sprague Grayden & Brad Beyer

Moonlight (2007-2008)

At first I was quite cynical, sure it promises vampires, but isn't it just muscling in on the vacuum left by Angel's early demise? My fears were unfounded, it a deserved contender to Angel's crown! Mick St. John is just as, if not more, broody than Angel, but makes a far better PI than Angel ever did! A victim of the writer's strike.

Favourite actors in Moonlight: Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Shannyn Sossamon & Jason Dohring

Side Order of Life (2007)

On the surface it seemed to be a typical soap opera like drama, with storylines like a called off wedding and a friend being diagnosed with cancer, but there was a surreal undertone that made it different from the usual. Also the ongoing 'cell phone man' plot was incredibly gripping! Just sort of disappeared in the end.

Favourite actors in Side Order of Life: Marisa Coughlan, Jason Priestley, Christopher Gartin & Diana-Maria Riva

Eleventh Hour (2008)

Intriguing concept, occasionally implausible but had great chemistry between the two main characters. Dropped off the TV unexpectedly.

Favourite actors from Eleventh Hour: Rufus Sewell, Marley Shelton & Omar Benson Miller

My Own Worst Enemy (2008)

This really needed to be given a chance, Christian Slater was excellent as the reverse Jekyll/Hyde character.

Favourite actors from My Own Worst Enemy: Christian Slater, Mike O'Malley, Mädchen Amick & Saffron Burrows

ER (1994-2009)

I didn't watch this from the beginning as I was 10 when it started! But I have managed to watch most of it since, and it is often an edge of your seat thrill ride! The face that there were no actors left in it at the end that were there at the beginning just goes to show just how good the writing is that it made you keep caring week in week out.

Favourite actors from ER: Noah Wyle, Anthony Edwards, Goran Visnjic & Maura Tierney

Stargate: Atlantis (2004-2009)

An excellent spin off of Stargate SG-1, that actually surpassed the original towards the end of SG-1's run. I think it managed to return to what made SG-1 great in the beginning, and gave the excellent David Hewlett a regular part as Dr Rodney McKay!

Favourite actors from Stargate: Atlantis: David Hewlett, Rachel Luttrell, Joe Flanigan & Jewel Staite

Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)

Quirky and funny short lived show from the creator of the far too short lived Dead Like Me. Somehow managed to surpass that show in surreality, but the characters were still loveable!

Favourite actors in Pushing Daisies: Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Kristin Chenoweth & Chi McBride

The L Word (2004-2009)

Again, I didn't watch this from the beginning but managed to get bang up to date before the end. This show has incredibly rich characters and can make you laugh or cry at any given moment. Much like Big Love it deals with issues that no other show deals with in any major way, namely those that effect the gay community. The ending wasn't up to its usual high standard and killed the chance for a film.

Favourite actors in The L Word: Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, Erin Daniels & Leisha Hailey

The Middleman (2008)

Another quirky short lived show, had great characters and surreal plots.

Favourite actors from The Middleman: Matt Keeslar, Natalie Morales, Brit Morgan & Mary Pat Gleason

Knight Rider (2008-2009)

Very watchable, great car, lacked plot most of the time.

Favourite actors from Knight Rider: Justin Bruening, Deanna Russo, Sydney Tamiia Poitier & Val Kilmer

Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)

Another show that I watched the early seasons of in a very short space of time. Incredibly fraking good! Doesn't feel like it's set in a futuristic time, the setting seems contemporary and the characters behave as you'd expect in such a desperate situation. Ended strangely but remained intelligent.

Favourite actors in Battlestar Galactica: Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Katee Sackhoff

Dirt (2007-2008)

The first episode made my head spin, but I soon got into the series. A lot of it was a bit ridiculous but it had both funny and moving moments.

Favourite actors from Dirt: Courteney Cox, Ian Hart, Josh Stewart & Shannyn Sossamon

Reaper (2007-2009)

Really shows that it has Kevin Smith attached! Sam and his friends were just like the typical slackers in any Kevin Smith film, even the involvement of the devil isn't too far out of his realm! Brilliant cast, funny and clever show with a dark and twisted undertow. Needed a chance to wrap up better.

Favourite actors from Reaper: Bret Harrison, Missy Peregrym, Ray Wise & Tyler Labine

Scrubs (2001-2009)

Incredibly surreal and funny, yet somehow manages to often be poignant and heart breaking. An amazing cast!
It came to a great end after eight seasons, and then got cancelled finally when it attempted to continue.

Favourite actors from Scrubs: Zach Braff, Neil Flyn, John C. McGinley & Sarah Chalke

'Til Death (2006-2009)

Just a simple and hilarious sitcom. The Starks really feel like they've been married over 20 years and the Woodcocks are so naive in comparison! Got samey after losing the dynamic between the two families.

Favourite actors in 'Til Death: Brad Garrett, Joely Fisher, Kat Foster & Eddie Kaye Thomas

Robin Hood (2006-2009)

Yet another show that I caught up on in a short space of time before the second season started! A brilliant telling of the Robin Hood legend, amazing setting and excellent cast. Went for the 'rocks fall, everybody dies' method of ending a show.

Favourite actors in Robin Hood: Jonas Armstrong, Lucy Griffiths, Keith Allen & Richard Armitage

Dollhouse (2009-2010)

Joss Whedon's long awaited return to our TV screens. A complex show that doesn't shy away from the issues at its core and contains an incredibly dynamic and versatile cast. And of course, plenty of Joss humour permeates throughout. And typical of a Joss show it was cruelly cancelled before it had a real chance.

Favourite actors from Dollhouse: Eliza Dushku, Tahmoh Penikett, Enver Gjokaj & Fran Kranz

Eastwick (2009-2010)

Funny, sexy and dynamic show based on the same source material as the film. The three women are incredible and powerful in more ways than just magical ones. Didn't have a chance to wrap up when it was cancelled so the last episode is erratic and confusing.

Favourite actors from Eastwick: Rebecca Romijn, Jaime Ray Newman, Lindsay Price & Paul Gross

Heroes (2006-2010)

Another fast paced edge of your seat thrill ride. It seemed to be continuously leading toward some sort of major catastrophe that could end the world as we know it. It had a huge cast, which meant that favourite characters were not in every episode but with so much going on you hardly noticed their absence! Could have done with a better wrap up.

Favourite actors in Heroes: Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto, Hayden Panettiere & Masi Oka

Ashes to Ashes (2008-2010)

Philip Glenister was on form as Gene Hunt, it was a crazier Life on Mars but also led to a fairly satisfactory conclusion that explained its originating series as well.

Favourite actors from Ashes to Ashes: Philip Glenister, Keeley Hawes, Marshall Lancaster & Dean Andrews

The Forgotten (2009-2010)

A slightly different show about solving murders. I watched it for Christian Slater who didn't disappoint me but apparently can't catch a break in being a show lead.

Favourite actors from The Forgotten: Christian Slater, Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens & Rochelle Aytes

Mercy (2009-2010)

Hospital drama focussing on an interesting group of nurses. Another show that had a cliffhanger ending that could have meant that a couple of main characters were dead.

Favourite actors from Mercy: Taylor Schilling, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper & Diego Klattenhoff

Lost (2004-2010)

I'm glad it finally ended, it had some great moments, lots of confusing ones and I loved a lot of the characters.

Favourite actors from Lost: Josh Holloway, Evangeline Lilly, Emilie de Ravin & Dominic Monaghan

24 (2001-2010)

When I originally watched the first season I didn't keep watching as I missed a couple of episodes and it wasn't the sort of show where you could just jump straight back in! I caught up a few years later on DVD and then saw every episode. It had off-seasons and some plots were less well done than others, but it kept me watching to the end! There's a promised film which I look forward to.

Favourite actors from 24: Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard & Annie Wersching

FlashForward (2009-2010)

Very intriguing SciFi mystery with plenty of questions to ponder, the final episode was far too brilliant for a cancelled show.

Favourite actors from FlashForward: Joseph Fiennes, Jack Davenport, Sonya Walger & Dominic Monaghan
